Hi everyone. I just wanted to put a message out here as I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with melanoma two weeks ago. I haven't really spoken to anyone about how I feel. I am a ‘smile and get on with it’ kind of person usually and as a teacher I am used to putting on a performance-when behind it all I am struggling. I live away from family but do have some very good friends who I can trust and be vulnerable with. I’m hoping this group will be a safe space for me to share. Thanks
Hi Beats84 and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I was diagnosed with melanoma over 8 years ago now but clearly remember the early days. Like you, I'm also a 'get on with it' type of person but I found this group invaluable when I wanted to ask questions or ask about others experiences.
When you're ready, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
