Hi,
I’m new to the group .
Was first diagnosed with melanoma in 1990, I was only 20 years old. It was staged as 4. Had surgery and radiotherapy treatment and thankfully did really well and responded to treatment.
I’ve had a further 5 melanomas removed each being stage 2.
Now after all these years I have pain and swelling in my left arm. I had a full axillary clearance on this side 34 years ago and have not had many issues apart from numbness and a winged scapular due to the surgery. I have a cough and breathlessness and have been referred for an urgent CT of chest and abdomen which I am having today. I’m really anxious, they are looking for recurrence.
its such a long time ago from my initial diagnosis. Has anyone had any experience of similar symptoms?
thankyou
Hi Wilton. I haven’t had any of the symptoms that you described but what an inspiration you are, for all the people, including myself who may feel anxious or negative about their diagnosis you are proof that treatment does work. I really hope that your CT scan comes back with a negative result and I understand how you must be feeling. Keep positive and at least they are acting quickly. I hope all goes well for you. Please let us know how you get on. This is a great place to talk.
