Hey everyone, I’m new here!

I was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer just before my 20th birthday a few months ago. The news was shocking to me as I was completely unaware that it was a possibility. I have had some more biopsies and a surgery to check if it if I’m my lymph nodes. Still awaiting some but they are hopeful that it’s clear! I still have to have some body checks as well.

I'm finding it all very depressing and struggling to manage my usual day to day life. Especially with Uni I am a second year law student going into my third year. I was able to post pone my exams but i am not having to sit them soon and just feel exhausted at the thought.

Grateful to have this forum available to me and able to hear others stories that are similar to my own!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Waiting for results is always a stressful time and I found the best way of coping was to try and fill as much of my time as possible doing things that I enjoyed. How soon have you been told that you should have your results?

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi LucaH I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2023. If you would like to read my journey, you can click on my name. I have kept an up-to-date record of my treatment so far. I am doing ok. When I decided to go on treatment after my operations, I was very nervous about side effects. The oncology teams are very good though, with plenty of support.

Try to keep a positive frame of mind, I'm certain my optimistic outlook has helped.

Good luck with any further treatment you may require. Hoping you are clear.
