Hi all,

i am a 39yo female

8/11/2023: I was diagnosed with melanoma 2A on left back ankle over the telephone, as I panicked when the appointments team called me. This is after I went a private dermatologist to get it checked, as I felt compelled to go - moral of the story listen to yourself.
I am going to see the consultant on 14/11/2023, and will need WE and SNB.

have you say, that I think I have been living with this for at least 20 years though…. The mole has always sort of been the same. But I get things can change rapidly.

I too, am freezing out. It’s fear of the unknown, and also for my family who are worried, and how I can/ will be around rhem

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with melanoma and it's no wonder you're feeling a bit all over the place at this very early stage in your diagnosis.

Although you've had your mole for 20 years, it doesn't mean that you've been living with melanoma all that time as moles can change over time and become melanoma. It sounds like things are moving quickly for you as you have an appointment with a consultant in a few days time. Hopefully you'll feel more in control once you know what to expect from the WLE and SLNB.

When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
