Hi I got a diagnosis of melanoma in my lymph 2 weeks ago. I went for a PET scan today the scanner was broken.  Feeling very frustrated feels like everything takes forever. Just want to know the stage and the next steps. Feeling very frustrated I had a melanoma 13 years ago it was very early and only needed cutting out.  I have no lesion this time that I can see.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that after being diagnosed with melanoma 13 years ago you have found that it's returned in a lymph node. It must have come as a huge shock after that length of time.

I had a similar experience to you last year when I was expecting to go for my radiotherapy planning scan only to be phoned on the day to say that the machine had broken down. However, a couple of days later I got a phone call at 8 o'clock in the morning asking if I could come straight away as they'd got it working again! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get your rebooked scan quickly.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
