Hi All,
Being new to this group I thought I would say hello and give you my personal experience of melanoma.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 Melanoma in December 2021 after I discovered a lump under my left armpit. I had surgery in February to remove the lump, which I thought had gone well. Unfortunately, by April it had returned and had also spread to my liver and lungs, by which time my health had deteriorated greatly. My surgeon had me admitted to Royal Surrey hospital and passed me over to the oncology team. Within a few days, I started Dabrafenib & Trametinib medication and 6 weeks have now passed. I am amazed at the change there has been in my health since taking these meds and I feel so much better. I haven’t had many side effects except for the chills which are fairly horrible, but I am trying to manage them with the help of my consultant who has prescribed steroids, but I am not convinced they are improving things.
Phil
