Hi All,  Five years ago I have a mole removed, the biopsy was sent for second opinion but cam back as a Blue Nevus. I noticed it had come back a few years later but recently experience pain and inflammation. I was finally referred for another excision in December 2021. 3 weeks ago my diagnosis was stage 2 but this may change after MDT team review in 2 weeks but the MM was 2c 8.4mm awaiting results and what next, probably WLE & SLNB

I’m obvs extremely worried and overwhelmed with it all. I’m extremely concerned about the delays and what impact that might have had on whether it’s spread or not.

Any advise would be great..

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm really sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with melanoma as I know what a worrying time this will be for you. Trying to understand how this will impact your life and coming to terms with all the potential operations and treatments can feel overwhelming.

My best advice would be to just concentrate on one step at a time and not to think about the next step unless you actually have to take it. So for you this means learn all you want to about the WLE and SLNB that you're going to have but don't research what will happen if it's discovered that the melanoma has spread to one of your lymph nodes.

I've had both the WLE and SLNB so I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about these procedures based on my experience. Now's the time to indulge yourself with favourite pastimes or hobbies so that you spend time doing what you enjoy and not worrying about the "what ifs".

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    I'm happy to chat anytime.
