Hello
I've just finished my 9th pembro immunotherapy over a year duration for melanoma this weather is causing my skin to be more itchy than usual after pembro, I only have to step outside for a few minutes and it becomes red, blotchy and very itchy, even indoors the general heat is causing me similar issues ues with my skin.
I am taking antihistamines and applying plenty of dermol lotion, does anyone experience similar, and can they recommend anything different, I've always been careful in the sun applied high factor lotions, covered my head etc and definitely won't be sun bathing, but this at the moment is preventing me from leaving the house, has anyone struggled the same?
Very best wishes to yo all
Beech
Hi Beech
I don’t have melanoma but I hope you don’t mind me responding as I was treated with pembrolizumab and I did have similar issues during the heat of 2023. I think it’s worth contacting your oncology helpline as they may want to assess your rash. In addition to antihistamine and emollients they prescribed steroid cream at a prescription only strength for my issue and it settled down.

Hi Beech, I have just finished my treatment for melanoma and suffered skin rashes throughout, my skin nurse recommended a sun cream called altruist, it was invented by a dermatologist especially fot people that have had skin cancer, it’s brilliant, you can buy in on line and some high street shops stock it, as in Sainsbury’s, Holland and Barrett and some Tescos. They also have cream for reddening and facial cream, it’s not heavy or sticky and goes on great. I hope this helps. Tracy x
Hello Squinky
Thank you so much for your reply.
I've ordered some of that cream, looking forward to applying it.
It looks like we started this melanoma marathon at similar times, a big shock to be told you have cancer and as you mentioned the wait for the various results was tough.
You certainly went through it when having lymph nodes removed and recovery after wards, I hope you are well now.
Thanks again for your reply, I appreciate it.
Positive wishes and healing to you.
Beech x
