Hi All
I had a 1a malignant melanoma WLE on my thigh in October last year - my thigh is never in the sunlight and always covered - I have noticed a new pigment grown on my scar tissue it has appeared quickly and is growing in size should I be concerned? Is this normal? Has anyone else encountered the same and what did you do? Don’t want to be paranoid but am concerned, it looks like a freckle.
Thank you
Hi Dexterm
I've always been advised that if I notice anything that I'm concerned about to contact my SCNS. If they feel it needs looking at they'll arrange an appointment with your consultant. I've had to do this on a couple of occasions and a few days after speaking to my SCNS was sitting in front of my consultant.
Just because an area of skin doesn't see sunlight doesn't mean that you can't get a melanoma there so it's always best to be safe and seek advice from your SCNS.
Hopefully, like mine, it'll be nothing
Anne
Thank you - I have no support here in jersey where I live - so I have now messaged my gp to ask for a referral - I appreciate your response
Hi Dexterm
I have had recurring melanoma on the edge of a wide local excision and also in the centre. What you are seeing might be nothing to worry about but I think you should have it checked out in the near future, especially if you think it is growing in size.
wishing you well. Lillibeth
