Hi everyone!
I was just after a bit of advice, I had 2 big moles removed nearly 3 weeks ago and I have just received a message on the NHS app to say that I have a follow up appointment on 29th May.
This has sent my anxiety through the roof as I now so scared that it is for bad news!
Just wondered if anyone had a similar wait for bad news?
I have previously had 2 removed that were atypical and I didn't have to go in so obviously this isn't helping with it being a different experience!
I can't think straight.
Thanks for any insight x
Hi andisafc and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I was diagnosed with melanoma over 8 years ago now so do understand the worry around waiting for your results. I was originally told that I should get them in 4 weeks but it was about 6 weeks before I heard.
Hi Anne, thanks so much for the reply and the lovely welcome.
I am sorry that you have had to go through melanoma, I hope that you are keeping well?
I was told 6-8 weeks for the results. The mind can be a terrible thing can't it? I just go from 0 to 100 when things like this come through.
It just seemed like so long to wait :(
Thanks again, Andrea x
Hi andisafc
Yes, I'm well thank you.
Ok, so it looks like we've ruled out a date for your results then.
It could be for a follow up skin check but we're only guessing.
The only way you'll find out is to speak to your consultant's secretary. If there's a contact number on the letter I'd give it a call, if not phone the hospital and ask to be put through to your consultant's secretary.
You are right that your mind immediately jumps to the worse case scenario. However, try to keep to the front of your mind that no amount of worrying will change the outcome but it will ruin the present.
((hugs))
Thanks so much for your thoughts on this.
I think I will try and be brave until the 6 week mark and then maybe give them a call?
Aww thank you so much and I love that "no amount of worrying will change the outcome but it will ruin the present". x
