Hi all.

Anxiety levels are high . Awaiting CT scan results.

I should be used to it now. Been having them every 3 months for 2 years.

6 months since the news melanoma had gone on my lung and liver. So that is always in my mind.

Does the anxiety ever get easier?

  • Hi Balfazar welcome to the forum though it sounds like you may have been popping in and out. The simple answer to your question " does the anxiety get any easier " is a definite NO.

I hope the scan results come back soon and that the news is positive for you . Best Wishes.

  • I have popped in and out.

Feel on top of things for a while then it hits again

    Thank you

  • Scanxiety is the worst.  Good luck friend.

  • I'm constantly anxious even though 4 years on. The trouble is it has made me anxious about many aspects of day to day life, not just my skin. I'm "waiting" for the next melanoma to appear. I have an annual CT scan (part of a new protocol) for which I'm very grateful but of course that makes me anxious as it can check for anything ! I've just been referred to a psychologist in the hope that it can help. There's also an element of a melanoma isn't a "serious" cancer, albeit I know it is. Logic tells me that I'm ok but I can't convince myself of this. Fortunately I have a very supportive family and that helps.

oh dear, I'm sorry to hear you feel so anxious Oscar14, I can hear it in your words here.  Well you have a very supportive family & a psychologist to keep you on the right track, which are a lot more than some people have.

When the going gets tough I can only suggest distraction to take your mind off your anxiety, like television, a good book, hobbies that you can get engrossed in, whatever floats your boat, so that the time flies & you haven't noticed.  Personally I only have to cut out a teddy bear & sew him up & anything negative goes out the window.

I'd recommend Mindfulness, doing something new that you've never done before, so that you can feel chuffed to bits with yourself!

    Best of luck
