Biopsy results wait…

Hi everyone, first time poster, I hope you are all well.

I had an excision biopsy taken just over 2 weeks ago, I was advised by the dermatologist that results could take around 6 weeks. I wasn’t too worried at first and I’m sure the mole was removed as a ‘better safe than sorry’ situation, but as the time is ticking on I can feel myself becoming more anxious.

Anyway, I had my appointment with the nurse today to have my stitches removed. She asked if I’d had my results yet, I told her not yet but that the derm did say around 6 weeks. I asked her if that was a typical wait and she said it probably is.

I noticed on her pc there was a yellow ‘pop-up’ type box in the top right hand corner of the screen, I could see my name but couldn’t make out anything else… I am absolutely sure I am being paranoid here, but I can’t stop wondering what it is and if it could be a message/flag re results. I’m not sure what I’m here to ask really if I’m honest, I think I’m just looking for reassurance, or potentially if anyone knows what this mysterious yellow box could have been!

Hi there!

I think in the end my results took just under 9 weeks, but thankfully all came back fine! Looking back it seems silly to have obsessed over it so much and then for it to have turned out as nothing, but the waiting really is awful!

I’ve actually since had a suspected BCC removed from my nose, I’m now on week 12 waiting for those result but I’m definitely less stressed this time! The surgeon did say that average at the moment is around 13 weeks so hopefully will hear back about that one soon and then can put it all behind me…

Great news but That’s an awfully long time to wait! Whereabouts in the country are you? I’m in cheshire and have been told 6 weeks & im already on week 3 and my mind has wondered a lot in that time! X

I’m in Edinburgh. It did feel like ages, they did say around 6 weeks when I had the biopsy but I really hoped it wouldn’t be that long… unfortunately it was and a little bit more! It’s hard to keep your mind from Wandering, I think the longer it goes on the more time you have to convince yourself it’s going to be bad.

with this wait it feels different, I felt that melanoma was a much so scarier thought than bcc (although I’m dreading if it does come back positive how much of my nose they’ll need to chop!)

I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer and I really hope you get a good result x
