I’m awaiting an appointment for WLE and skin graft. Both to be done at the same time with local anaesthetic.
Absolutely petrified and worried it will hurt!
I had a mole removed from my ankle so I guess with the skin being thin in this area that’s why I need a graft.
Should I ask to get knocked out or suck it up and be a brave wee soldier?
Stay safe x
Oops, I really thought I had replied, I'm pretty sure I had typed a reply but I obviously must've logged out and forgot to click "reply".....since I turned 50 recently I swear my memory is terrible! Getting old is not easy hahahaha
Only 7 sleeps to go and you will all be done and dusted :-) Do you have to stay overnight in hospital with you getting a General Anesthetic?
I am very disappointed in your nurse, people in that position should be empathetic and helpful. I'm lucky to have one with a sense of humour.
I didn't know you could get strips to reduce scarring. You'll need to let me know how you get on with them....I might have to get some too.
I'm doing grand thanks, my husband and I are off to see The Overtones in concert tomorrow evening so that should be good. We're heading through to Edinburgh next week for a couple of nights to see the Christmas Market, looking forward to that. Then Christmas will be over in a heartbeat! I've had my Christmas Tree up since the beginning of November so I dare say I'll take that down before my surgery on 4th January - I don't trust my husband to remove the baubles delicately!!
Take care and stay positive xx
Helloooo! I turned 52 this year and what with menopause brain - there's no hope for me! I've had to stop the HRT patches in prep for the op which is a right pain.
Yes only 6 days now for me. It's all gone mad here. My husband's parents are poorly and his Dad has got to have an op 2 weeks after me (same week as yours!). Anyways, we just found out that my husband has to take his Dad to the Royal Marsden to meet the anaesthetist on Monday so he can't be around for my op - FFS!!!! Fortunately I have a friend who can help out. I'm down as a day case so shouldn't have to stay in but I have to have someone around for 24 hours after so it's a slight stress working it all out.
Have fun at your gig & in Edinburgh - how lovely. My brother lives in Bowness nr Linlithgow. I'm the opposite side of the country - near Southampton. :) xx
Hellloooooo,
I’ve been waiting until today to reply, so I can wish you luck for tomorrow, not that you will need it. I bet it’s a breeze and you sail through it. This time tomorrow it will all be over!!
Oh don’t talk about menopause!! I went through it in my early 40s cold turkey, no HRT!! I hear horror stories from some folk, I just struggle with weight loss. Mind you eating a toblerone for breakfast doesn’t help the situation hahaha
Thats good you have someone coming it’s you tomorrow, if I was closer I would’ve offered my services.
I will say though, after a GA drink plenty of water.
The Overtones gig was great, much better than Madness were a few weeks ago. We’ve decided to cancel our trip to Edinburgh, too many folk catching COVID lately so don’t want to risk me catching it and delaying my surgery. Being sensible for a change.
My husband and I were down in Southampton a few years ago to the Ageas stadium to watch a cricket game.
Signing off now, get a good night sleep tonight, rest up and do as your instructed to do.
speak soon xx
Aw this is so kind of you to message. I'm all dyed, mapped, scanned and ready to go. Only annoyance is that my husband has put toilet bloo in all the loos so I can't check out my blue wee!!! I've never had that kind of scan before so it was a bit more than I was expecting and the injection of dye was a little sore but other than that it was more fascinating than anything else.
Wow that's a lot to go through Menopause with no extra help. Bravo to you. Toblerone's for breakfast sound delish. I had ginger and lemon cake for breakfast yesterday. I love food. My admission time is 11am so I'm not going to get anything to eat until tonight. Sad times.
Shame about Madness. I've seen them a few times but midafternoon at festivals when the crowd needed energy and they are fab for that.
Not much sleep for me but that's standard. I have chronic insomnia at the best of times. So I'm actually looking forward to the sleep and rest!
Thanks again for thinking of me. Will report back! xx
HELLOOOOO. Just thought I'd drop in and let you know I lived to tell the tale!!
It all went well but I think I had a bit of a reaction to the general as instead of the lovely sleep after I cried all afternoon. Just overwhelm I think. I have a lot of blue paint on my leg which the surgeon says will be around for up to 4 months so I can really say I'm blue inside and out! He ended up using staples as he was hoping not to do a skin graft but wasn't able to get away with just stitches. I'm to keep the same dressing on throughout and he's notified me of issues that could happen around my groin. He wants to see me in 2 weeks for follow up and removal.
Pain is more discomfort than actual pain. I'm feeling pretty wiped today but it's nice to rest. I'm not to drive for a week.
Have a lovely Christmas. xx
Hello you!!! I am delighted to hear from you! :-)
I agree with you, you had maybe just got yourself into a right state worrying about the surgery that once it was over, you were crying with relief. I envy you, I've got 14 sleeps until mines, the days are dragging now I just want it over with! I dare say as the day gets closer I'll start to get butterflies....I kinda wish I'd asked for a General but its too late now....EEK!!!!
Wow so you'll be allowed to drive after a week? I'm telling everyone I think I'll be housebound for 8 weeks after my surgery hahahaha I like to go with worst case scenario!
Take it easy, have a great Christmas xx
