Hey Wave tone2

Anyone had a mole excision on their abdomen? I’ve had one today and signed off for 2 weeks

  • Hi, I had one removed on my abdomen. I thought it looked suspicious rather than the Dr worrying about it. It turned out to be fine. I went back to work the next day and it was fine. Might be completely different circumstances though.

  • Yes I think is more precautionary as it was worrying me and my diagnosis is still quite recent (melanoma before Christmas) I feel like the mole had grown and darkened but could be totally paranoid. I just wondered why he’d signed me off for two weeks when I’d heard most people go back the next day, I do teach Reception children so that’s maybe why x

  • I have to say I’m still paranoid 3yrs down the line. I had two taken off recently that I thought looked different and both were fine. It’s peace of mind. I guess if the wound is ok there is nothing say you can’t go back to work before the end of the two weeks. My stitches dissolved. Hope it’s all ok for you.

  • Thanks, yes mine are dissolvable ones too x

  • I don’t think the two weeks off necessarily mean anything bad. If the wound is ok you can always check with the nurse specialist if you can go back to work sooner.

  • Yes it just seems a lot, when I had my original melanoma they didn’t give me a sick note and that was worse, I guess it depends on the doctors. X

  • I had one removed on my stomach in March, and yes you will find that you will probably need the two weeks off work, simply because you can't rest that area. You say you teach reception children, just think how much bending down and moving around you will be doing, which will put strain on your stitches.
