Hi all.

My partner is having targeted treatment Dab/Tram started 1st December but had to stop as white bloods dropped. High temperature chills.,He is now back on after a wk his main side affects are nausea, metallic taste and headaches. Anyone else suffered similar if so do you take anti sickness drugs ( partner is reluctant to take more drugs) Do you shield obviously with covid we have to be careful but he feels he has to stay away from everyone. We have a 4 yr old grandson and sadly he’s reluctant to see him. I work in a supermarket part time and feel guilty as it is high risk but the job gives me an outlet and I feel guilty thinking that. He’s due 3 monthly scans next ones due next month. I know we need to check for any changes skin swelling ie lymph nodes. Isn’t this stressful making sure you’re doing the right thing, having scans waiting results.. Xx

  • Hi I've been on dab and tram since middle of November and have also been having a bad

  • Sorry I'll start again , I've been having a bad time on dab and tram . Since November I had to have 2 breaks due to nausea , stomach pain ,temperature headaches, have just started back on it again and so far I'm only getting nausea which is a big improvement.  I was given metoclopramide for nausea which helps . I also found the nurse specialist really helpful . I have an appointment with my oncologist in 2 weeks so fingers crossed.  Hope your partner feels better soon , I was hoping that my body has sort of reset itself after the 2 week break I had . Take care

  • Thank you for your reply. My partner felt he was doing ok at first then had the problems with his bloods now feels that he’s having to start again and feeling down because of the nausea feeling. He had his call today with oncologist and they advised him to take the anti sickness hopefully he will. He doesn’t want to have to break again. The oncologist said today if his symptoms get too bad they can drop the dosage. Are you working my partner is a builder and not working at the moment through his own choice he’s going to start again as he says if he’s busy he’ll not think about the nausea. Obviously he’s been getting tired more so maybe he’ll just do some small jobs. I hope all continues to go well for you. Oh hope you don’t mind where was your melanoma? My partners was found on top of his arm, he had it removed plus a wide excision and 2 lymph nodes removed sadly one node had cancer in.

  • Hi

I'm not working as I'm a long distance hgv driver and I'm just going to see if my side effects get more manageable before I go back to work . I had my melanoma on my lower back and they found 2 lymph nodes near my left armpit that were cancerous . Before Christmas I was feeling really down because I felt so awful ,but after the 2 week break feel so much better, so tell you're partner there will be light at the end of the tunnel even though it might not feel like it at the moment . I m also having problems with my arm where my lymph nodes were removed as they cut my nerves and I've lost all feeling from my shoulder to my elbow . Good luck ,stay positive

  • Hi

My partner had problems with a thing called cording after his surgery to remove the lymph nodes he found he couldn’t straighten his arm fully, he had exercises to do and now much better apart from a numb feeling in the armpit area. Oh I agree see how your symptoms go I do hope they get more manageable I guess it’s all trial and error at the moment., I hope your arm improves too.
I think being positive is a must.. Take care and once again Thank you for replying.
