Hi,
Looking for advice. My husband had biopsy excision a few weeks ago & given diagnosis of stage 1a melanoma last week. We came on holiday yesterday (was booked well before diagnosis) and I’m demented trying to keep him safe. He’s wearing a UV protective rash vest & hat with factor 50 all over and under umbrella most of the time. I feel as if I can’t relax. He’s waiting for his WLE appointment & has been told he doesn’t need a SLNB because it was very thin. Was it silly coming on holiday?????
Hi Kath
I was diagnosed with stage 1b malignant melanoma in August. I went on holiday in September and I sat in the shade, wore a hat and factor 50. I had my SNLB and two WLE last week. I don’t think it’s silly, I found the holiday was a good time to relax, reflect on my diagnosis and talk about how I felt with my husband and parents.
My plastic surgeon said to go on holiday, relax and be sensible in the sun. Try and relax and I hope you have a nice time.
Best wishes
Thanks for that I just feel guilty bringing him to the sun. I feel like the skin police but want him to have a good time too. I guess the whole family has to readjust and change our ways while on holiday. Had to stop myself from lecturing a pink person at the pool today. Just want his WLE to be done & results back. X
