I had a mole removed from the middle (upper) of my back - just above where my bra would sit. I'm wondering if anyone has had one in the same place and can tell me about their WLE and/or SLNB?
I'm not sure where the closest lymph nodes will be which is making it difficult to research SLNB and I'm wondering how difficult the recovery from these were?
Thanks in advance!
Hi MH20, mine was just below where my bra sits. When you are in the nuclear scanner you can watch on a monitor where the dye is going. I had 2 threads, one heading south and the other across towards my armpit. After about half an hour the southbound strand turned North so the nodes they removed were all from my armpit. It's been 8 days and although my back is healing well my armpit is still very sore and lumpy but I'm still glad I had it done. I'm really hoping for a good outcome when I get my results. The waiting is horrible as always. Good luck x
Thanks for replying!
I wonder if I will be the same as you then and the SLNB will be in my armpit... I just really want to get it over and done with now! I'm anxious as I am a full-time mature student with 2 kids and I travel a lot for uni. I will also be heading out on a primary school placement at the end of October (only once per week at the moment) and really don't want to miss any of it.
I know it sounds as though my priorities are wrong and that I should be thinking more of my health but at the moment I feel a little in limbo!
I hope you are healing well now!
MH20
Hey. My melanoma wasn’t on my back it was on my abdomen but I had drainage to 3 sites, so SLNB from left arm pit and both groins. Whether I got off lightly I’m not sure but honestly it was fine, pain barely noticeable with a days worth of paracetamol. Skin felt a little tight under my arm pit for a while but nothing restrictive or painful.. it was a million times better than I expected and I had a 2.5 year old and 12 week old baby to deal with! Wishing you all the very best xx
