Possible melanoma? confused and need advice

Hello , welcome to the melanoma group although I’m sorry that you are worried and upset. You asked if anyone has experienced anything similar, well ....not in that dark skin under foot kind of way but yes to the uncertainty waiting for the next appointment, so I wanted to welcome you to the community. (My diagnosis was over 4 years ago but no primary was found for me, the assumption being that my bodies immune system might have dealt with it itself many years before, I was diagnosed when things had spread to my lymph nodes).

Having been on the site for a number of years I’m always surprised by the variety in people’s experience, and I know you are looking for someone ahead of you who can perhaps ease your mind that it could be nothing from their own experience, but I have to say that many people when they have the final all clear don’t post again or hang around as they are free from all the worry. I’m hoping that posting here has released some of your anxiety by just expressing how you feel, as that’s what has helped me at times of anxiety, as often it’s easier to express things here than directly to the people who will be around you to support you, sometimes that’s because we can understand the anxiety of waiting, and sometimes it’s because things can often click into shape when you read your own words back.

When I was awaiting diagnosis after a scan a Macmillan nurse told me not to google and so I didn’t I just found ways to pass the two weeks waiting for my results, but as my diagnosis was 4 years ago I’ve had many times waiting for results and the uncertainty that fills our heads at times. One thing I can say for sure is coping with uncertainty is a great life skilled have. I think it’s marvellous that you have been to the GP and you are on the road to dealing with this if it turns out to be something sinister. You can’t change the previous 2 years but you can congratulate yourself that it’s now being sorted. You will have this wait for the dermatologist, then a possible wait for surgery, and a wait for those results and ....well we try to just not race to far ahead as we might be worrying for nothing, or we might be preparing ourselves for what questions to ask, what is the procedure like, etc etc.
