Hi

Just wondered if anyone out there has, or is going through T-VEC treatment and how your tolerating it.

I have had two previous melanoma deposits in my lower leg one in 2019 & again in 2022 both were removed surgically The second occurrence was followed up with immunotherapy of which I could only tolerate one dose due to severe side effects Its now back again in 2025 the same place and has manifested itself as modular Melanoma with about 20 / 25 lumps The oncology team have arranged for me to have a course of T-VEC

Any feedback would be very much appreciated I'm feeling quite apprehensive Thanks for listening.

  • Hi

I haven't had this treatment but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I searched T-VEC in the group but drew a blank I'm afraid. Is it known under a different name?

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Latchbrook

    thank you for your reply

I'm not surprise you have not heard about it

T-VEC or to give it its full name is

    Talimogene laherparapvec

its a targeted treatment of cancer lumps on the skin and is offered to patients if the tumours can not be removed using surgery or treated with chemo/ Immunotherapy due to severe side effect reactions

My course of treatment kicks off soon & i was wondering if anyone else was in the same boat.

i will let you know how i get on

take care out there my fellow travellers

    we can get through this

  • Hi

Sorry it's taken me a few days to get back to you.

I've now searched 'talimogene laherparepvec' and found a post from  several years ago asking if anyone else was having this treatment. They didn't get a reply but I've tagged them into my reply to you in the hope that they'll pop on and tell you how they got on.

  • Hi,

I've just seen your post from a few months ago, I started T Vec in Feb this year, I first had Melanoma in 2022, it got into my lymph nodes, I had them removed but then reappeared in my lower leg in Dec / Jan 2025.

Mine multiplied to around 17 tumours but it's going well now and reduced dramatically, how's your experience?

    Jason

  • Hi Jason

    thank you for your post

i started my T-Vec treatment at  Guys Hospital in April this year

I have so far had eight sessions and the number of injection sites has reduced slightly

I am tolerating the injections quite well with only minor symptoms from the injected virus

the staff here are wonderful, friendly and professional and they make each visit almost a pleasure

I had a PET scan last week and expecting the results at my next session to see if its working as expected

As we all know with these things "we hope for the best but prepare for the worst"

i will let you know how it goes

good luck with your treatment Jason

    Tom

  • Hi Tom,

Glad you're tolerating the T Vec, I've not really had any side effects apart from a little sickness on the first injection.

My tumours have now redused from 17 to 4, and those 4 are small :)

I'm having mine at Cheltenham hospital, the same as you all the staff are amazing!

I'm having a PET scan on the 19th and head scan on the 23rd of this month. I hate the anxiety waiting for the results!!

Yes, let me know how it goes.
