Hiya,
Dont really know why I am writing this but my mom was recently diagnosed with advanced small cell lung cancer. It was a shock as she was previously fit and healthy asides from a lingering cough which she saw gp for multiple times. It was especially shocking as the day before she was admitted to hospital for a collapsed lung she had received the 5 yr all clear from a breast cancer diagnosis which was such a relief and felt like that chapter of our lives was closed. I am currently at uni in a different country and have been really struggling since coming back as I am so upset and in shock by it all. I’m only 20 and have two younger sisters and I can’t believe cancer is ruing all our lives for a second time. The unpredictability of small cell lung cancer is so cruel and while I am trying to accept the reality that she will never be cured not knowing how long we have makes me really upset. While she’s responded really well to treatment I’m struggling with staying positive as I know what’s ahead.
I guess I am just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar diagnosis and had success with their treatment as I know there are people out there 4 years post diagnosis doing well, and I hope this could be my mom.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
