Its been a massive shock my mum went into hospital in early june thinking she just had a bad chest infection she also has asthma so not a good combination , i went in to drop her some stuff off but what came next was absolutely heartbreaking they said its highly likely lung cancer which we were both completely shocked about shes never smoked (i know that isnt always related) but she is incredibly young (for this type of cancer)

so we thought oh it must be early stages and she had been completely healthy besides the cough which I though was that 100 day cough that was going round.

it wasnt early stages its stage 4 im completely heartbroken and i feel im not coping well with the stress at all i keep going around in circles and im terrified she wont make it theres so many things i wanna do with my mum but she has no energy

i also have a long term partner of 4 years we aren’t engaged (yet lol) i am absolutely terrified she wont be around i dont have a dad and i want her to give me away

i also have bpd and adhd so i struggle with emotions anyway

any advice how do i comfort my mum

  • Hi  welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your mum. That must of been a huge shock for you both. All you can do is be there to support your mum, as a parent myself I know your mum will be worrying about you more than she is herself, we just need to know that our children will be ok.

There is also a Family and friends forum that you may want to join where you can connect with others who are in a similar situation to yourself. You can also call the Macmillan support line and chat to someone there on 0808 808 00 00. They are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.
