Husband with Stage 4 NSC diagnosis in March last chemo Monday then 2 yrs planned immunotherapy any advice re travel insurance please ?

  • Hi. Have you tried the govt-backed Moneyhelper site? There is a section on. Pre-existing conditions cover. Maybe something you haven’t tried on there.

    We  managed holidays in two different ways.

    In Europe by going last minute and opting out of cancellation cover. Relying on GHIC card for an emergency, taking out normal insurance  and declaring we don’t want cover for any preexisting condition. Risky of course and depends how stable your condition is, but if doc thinks it is ok maybe worth thinking about for a short trip.

    For a recent 18 day trip to Canada we got cover through Worldwide insurance. Everything declared, cancellation covered etc. expensive but less than you’ve been quoted for a week in Spain. I’m only Stage 2 though. 

    Not sure if any of this will help but hope you can find a policy to let you get away for a break.
