Hello, I am having tests for suspected lung cancer, my consultant has told me he thinks it will be confirmed..I had Breast Cancer in 2011, with major surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. I am very anxious as he said there is no cure. My test results will be mid January. Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you so much.

  • Hi Battie. What tests have you had so far and what results are you waiting for?
it’s not helpful for the consultant to prejudge them and leave you worrying like this. Especially over Xmas.
There are so many types of lung cancer and so many variables depending on your own situation and health. Even if he turns out to be correct and you have lung cancer and it is not curable there is a strong chance it will be treatable.

There are so many new treatments out there and there are many  people on this forum who were diagnosed years ago  and are still here to tell the tale.

Once you have your results the doctors can tell you what can or can’t be done. In the meantime try to think of all the questions you might want to ask and write them down. Easier said than done but try not to assume the worst.

  • Hi Baytree123, thank you so much for your informative reply, apologies for the late response, I have had "log in" problems but all sorted now.

I have been at the hospital for 4 hrs today having lung biopsies and fluid drainage. So far I have had chest X-rays, CT Scan, and MRI scan. I have appointments booked for PET-CT and CT brain scan.

It is moving very fast now after the initial delay and is all consuming.

In the next few days I will take on board your advice and do some research.

    Thank you again.
