Hi I've just been diagnosed with lung cancer had a biopsy take today to dermine the stage and type. How long does it usually take for results?
Hi Patmac welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. April1962 is right, it is about 2 weeks, because they do so many tests on the biopsy, and they have to wait to see if samples grow etc. So it is a waiting game for now, this is the hard part for many. You find your self in limbo in between diagnoses and treatment. It will be full steam ahead though once those results come back, so try and use this time to keep busy, do all the things that you feel may need doing over the next few weeks so it is all done before treatment starts.
Wishing you all the very best, please let us know when you get the results.
Thanks for the information I'll keep you posted once I get the results
I had my results after 10 days. The results need to be discussed at the hospital's multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) and a treatment plan arranged and you will be invited to an outpatient appointment to discuss results and plan of management.
Best wishes.
Hi patmac
You should get your results in approximately 10 days. Lots of information will be gathered from the biopsy which allows your consultant and the MDT to make decisions about the best treatment they can give you. The next few days will seem like forever but the time is needed so they can offer the best treatment plan for you.
Take care Donna
