Hi alL

not posted for a while , just wondered if anyone has experienced the following

I’m approx 18 months post upper r lobectomy for adenocarcinoma .
I’m extremely grateful I did not need any chemo or radiotherapy as I had no lymph node involvement . Last CT was in January . Recently been getting muscle spasms when I bend or turn to my left side, spasms are on my upper r side. I have had loads of chest infections since my op but still feel grateful I needed no other treatment.

would be very grateful for any advice

  • hi Indian ,i had a lobectomy last year ,july 22nd ,so just over 14 months ,i also had no lymph node involement ,and had an x.ray a month ago which is no recurrance so all good ,I did speak to my surgeon on the same day i had my x.ray and explained to her that i was having days when i had pain in the area surrounding my scar also upper right ,sometimes it was very painful ,so wondering if your spasms are similar ,because i experience them when i sit turned to my left or if i over exert myself ,she told me that it is normal to have them ,she also described it to me as spasms ,and said that they could last for a few years ,but if you have had chest infections i would talk to your team they may be able to explain it better than me and put your mind at rest Christie

  • I was the same as yourself  lobectomy and no treatment needed that was 2 to year ago and I get  muscle and nerve pain still when I do too much, also had wedge resection last year on middle right lobe , I do find lying in bath of Epsom muscle salts helps,

  • Thanks Christie, that’s reassuring

    Good morning lovely people.

2nd CT scan on 17 April this tear (R upper lobectomy Dec. 2022) recent scan has shown my middle lobe is compressed. Having bronchial lavage on the 23rd May. Letter to GP from consultant described it as possible middle lobe syndrome,  GP unsure what this is. Regular chest infections but one in December this year & a few weeks ago really floored me. Throat is quite raw & my voice is quite hoarse. Anyone able to suggest any ideas on what's going on with me ?

  • Thank you Bobby jay
