It seems I have lung cancer in a place they can’t biopsy.  I see the surgeon on 31-7-23.  All this began on the 9Th July 23 so it’s been a whirlwind.  I have a exercise test this coming Thursday and then the want to remove a section of my lung.  Has anyone gone through this surgery?

  • Hi. I’m waiting to have the left top part of my lung removed this month so not had it yet but very soon. Having it done key hole although that can change during surgery. The dr will explain all this to you at your appointment Julie

  • From what I understand they can’t do mine keyhole.  The cancer is very close to my heart.  Thanks for your information.  It’s pretty crazy trying to process all this.  Don’t want to worry other people.

  • Julie,

sorry I’m still trying to navigate on here.  I will keep you in my prayers.  It’s a scary time K

  • I was the same. Shocked. I was offered a free Lung scan via text message by the NHS & thought should I shouldn’t I. Well I decided to have it on the 1st April & 19 days later got the call to say a shadow was seen, I couldn’t believe it as I feel the same as usual which is always tired due to tablets etc that go with getting older. I’m now at the stage let’s get it removed & get on

  • Iv had a lobectomy then 2 Yr later had a section of the other lobe , first done keyhole next 1 was wedge resection they had to do open surgery with that as they had used lot of glue sticking bits together so had to pull and haul.dudnt need any other therapy as it was early stages the op done the job recovery with keyhole very quick open surgery recovery longer

  • Hi K66

If you click on my name you can read my back story if you wish. I was picked up on my year Bowel cancer CT scan.

They didn’t bio mine I was in and had a bottom right lung lobectomy and top right segment

There are clear margins so I will be monitored.

  • Hi, I think they are looking at open surgery because mine is in a iffy place.  How long were you in hospital with both surgeries,  have you got the all clear now?  Thank you so much for responding tHeart us Heart️ xx

  • Oh Ann, your story is incredible and you are amazing!  I’m so sorry you are back at it.  Will they be able to help?  My tumour is 10mm but growing.  It’s too deep and central for biopsy and very cloHearte to my heart.  I have multiple health issues and am diabetic.. on insulin.  Nothing compared to what you’ve gone through and are going through.  I’m still a bit in denial.  My stepson is adamant thHeartt I don’t have radiotherapy.  Which I don’t want anyway.  He wants me on a specific CBD oil and diet.  I have no idea.  My mum was 57 when she died.  I’m 57 next month.  She started with cervical caHeartcer in 1975 and had surgery but she was naughty and didn’t follow up.  She was down again in 93 and it spread to her brain and she died Dec 1st 2004.  It feeds my fear but she was a strong woman andHeartdecided no more treatment.   Thank you for messaging me and allowing me to see your story.  You are in my prayers now!  Big hugs Heart

  • 5 days with keyhole 10 days with open if I remember right , I have a nodule in left lung fingers crossed doesn't get any bigger all and all just follow ups keep eye on nodule for any growth. I have up n down days mentally and I have copd I think I worry more about copd than cancer, my breathing ok unless I'm trying to do too much xx

  • Hello, I was only diagnosed with this on Tuesday and I am jumping up and down already. I have been through cancer before when my daughter had Ovarian cancer (she's fine now). Doctor is saying "Time is on our side" which is great news but I want it done, now, now, now. I know I sound like a brat but I don't really care. It is MY life on the line.

Keyhole surgery means they will literally open a small hole in you and remove a part of your lung that is misbehaving itself. It will be analysed very quickly whilst you are on the operating table. They will then decide how much of your lung they need to remove to get rid of the cancer. So, from a keyhole, the size of the wound can escalate. They can't tell you much more. I am at the halfway house too! What hospital are you going to/?
