hi my husband was dianosed 3 weeks ago with stage 4 lung cancer which was a total shock as he went into hospital with pnemonia or so we thought, at the moment im still in shock to be told he only has months to live, hes now home and watching him go down each day is so hard to bare, we have been together for 45 years and the thought of losing him is at the moment unbareable, but i know i have to be strong for him. what can i expect to happen over the coming months?

  • Hi  welcome to the group, but I am so sorry to hear about your husband. That must of been such a shock for you both. Do you have support at home? Is your husband still under the oncology team at the hospital for his care? or has he been discharged to the GP for care?

It is very scary when a family member receives a cancer diagnoses, and the fear of what is ahead, but talking to others who are in a similar situation to yourself does help you through this difficult time. You can chat to people here in the lung group, but there are also 3 different support forums on the community you can join.

    Family and friends

    Carers only

supporting someone with incurable cancer group

You will find several people there who are going through a similar situation to yourself.  You can also call the Macmillan support helpline for support 7 days a week from 8am til 8pm on 0808 808 00 00
