Hello

I am new to this forum.  My husband has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has secondary spinal lesions.  I am trying to support him but am really struggling seeing him in such pain.  It is a new diagnosis and we are still awaiting treatment confirmation but nothing he has been given so far is helping with his pain.  I lost my dad 18 months ago to cancer and am really struggling to face this again.  My husband was my rock when my dad died and I cannot conceive of life without him but am worried he is going to give up due to his level of pain.  I am exhausted.

  • Hi I’m new here my name is Linda, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer which had spread. We lost my dad three years ago and now my mum has been diagnosed with lung cancer with lesions on her Adriano glands liver and brain. It was hard enough losing my dad to have to do it again with my mum is very difficult as she has decided not to have any treatment. So it’s just about making as many memories as we possibly can.

  • Hi  welcome to the group but sorry to hear about your husband. It must be so scary for you, especially after losing your dad such a short time ago as well. Waiting for treatment is so hard, especially as your husband is in pain.

It is very scary when a family member receives a cancer diagnoses, and the fear of what is ahead, but talking to others who are in a similar situation to yourself does help you through this difficult time. There are 2 different support forums on the community you can join.

    Family and friends

    Carers only

You will find several people there who are going through a similar situation to yourself.  You can also call the Macmillan support helpline for support 7 days a week from 8am til 8pm on 0808 808 00 00
