Lung nodule spotted on heart scan, all signs are it’s a typical carcinoid. Good prognosis but dreading the op. I have fibromyalgia so pain and recovery going to be tough.
scheduled for VATS in a month.

  • Hello, I totally identify with how you are feeling! I too was diagnosed after a regular CT scan on my chest found the nodule & I will have my Lobectomy in nine days time & yes I am dreading it being the unknown.

I have Polymyalgia so again like you the pain & recovery will be a challenge but I wish you all the best.

I would welcome any helpful tips for both pre & post operation.. I wish yo well!

  • Hi, I too have a typical Neuroendocrine cancer of the lung, well differentiated, grade 1. I was at first told it was inoperable due to location which is very close to main artery and heart so I was put on Ictreotide injections to help keep it stable which after 16 months it has. However I requested a referral to the Christie in Manchester who have an expert team in Neuroendocrine tumours and I'm so glad I did. The knowledge they have us second to none. The professor I am under then referred me to the thorasic surgeons at  Wythenshawe hospital who have said it certainly can be operated on. This is scheduled for Friday 31st March and I am quite scared now. I've been told I will have a sternontomy and will go on heart bypass during surgery because of where it is. So it's all all systems go for next Friday now.

I wish you well on your journey and hope your surgery and recovery go well for you. Keep strong and positive x

  • Good luck with your surgery!
