Hi,
my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable lung cancer in December. That month we just felt numb with disbelief as he hadn’t seemed ill. He just had a nagging chest pain following a bad cold and cough. He deteriorated quite quickly and the pain was unbearable. Thankfully in mid January he was offered treatment which started very immediately. We are truly grateful for that and the radiotherapy certainly eased his pain and now he is going through chemotherapy and immunotherapy every 3 weeks but the inevitable side effects are taking their toll. I will be interested to read of similar scenarios on here. Thank you
Hi Taurus8 welcome to the group but sorry to hear about your husband. It really is a shock when a loved one is told they have cancer, and it’s devastating when you are told it is stage 4. However lung cancer treatment has come such a long way in recent years, and new treatments are coming along all the time. So many people are living good lives with cancer now, incurable but treatable is becoming much more the norm.
I am on a different treatment plan to your husband, but hopefully someone else will pop along soon to share their story with you. You can read about us and our journeys so far, by clicking on our profile name or picture, which will take you to our home page.
You can also join the Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum where you can connect with other people in a similar situation to yourself.
Glad to see that the radiotherapy has helped with your husbands pain, and hope his treatment goes well for him.
