Hi Olena
Im sorry that I’m new to this also so I’m no help with advice but have been part of another group for a year and have gained so much from that.
I just wanted to say hello and my goodness me you’ve been through so much already to get here.
Cancer treatment here is very good and there will be more knowledgeable members along soon
I'm sending you a hug
Ann
Good morning olena welcome to the group but so sorry to hear about your husband. I cannot imagine what you have been through having to leave your home, and the worry of your husbands cancer on top of that!
I take it you are here in the UK now ? The Macmillan site is here for people to talk about their own personal experience with cancer, and to support each other through through their journey. We cannot give medical advice as we are not medically trained.
Are you able to go with your husband to the hospital to attend his appointments? They will be able to provide an interpreter to help you both fully understand what is going on. Please also keep an eye on your emails as I am going to see if someone from the Macmillan team can email you with some support.
In the meantime hopefully someone who is on immunotherapy will be along soon to share their experience with you.
I am also going to pop a fact sheet below which you may find helpful
Thanks for the reply, I'm very grateful. Yes, we are in the UK. Treatment in Birmingham at Good Hope Hospital. I can't always be in the hospital because I have to pick up the kids from school. There is a translator. Recently, my husband has pain in his joints and spine.
That could be down to the treatment, but any new symptoms or side effects he must tell his oncology team about.
I hope you have some support here in the UK. Do you have any any friends or family here ? X
HI Olena ,i cant help with advice but i am sure someone can ,it must be so difficult for you being in a starnge country ,i hope you get all the help you need ,my son is in Ukraine ,helping ,so i do understand how afraid you feel
No, we are alone. Of course, there are other families from Ukraine. But thank God they are in good health. And for treatment, I have no support other than the hospital.
Hi there
I just wanted to check in with you and to say that my heart is with you.
You’ve had a terrible traumatic time and you’re doing really well being here and chatting to others that have had the same treatment
Ive had amazing treatment although it was for a different cancer I’ve joined here as I may need support from members that know all about reactions to treatments
Sending you a virtual hug
Ann
