New in here, my mum was diagnosed two years ago and we have been blessed with this time with her. Now the cancer has spread so no more treatment is going to be given after a bowel rupture which nearly led to sepsis . She’s to I’ll for more chemo so now on palative care. Feel very sad and scared. My mum is scared also and instead of thinking about quality with her all I can think of is this is our last Christmas. I would like to be thankful we have had her and enjoy every day with her so I’ve joined looking for a more positive outlook rather than the negative fear one.
Hello Trace04 welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your mum. It is terrifying when you are caring for a loved one with an incurable cancer. We never know how long we have, even when on palliative treatment, it really is a case of how long is a piece of string.
I know you will make this Christmas extra special with your mum. Spend as much time together as you can, make more memories.
If you are struggling and need to talk to someone about what your mum is going through the support line is available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm on 0808 808 00 00.
