Good evening.   Mum just been diagnosed with 4cm lesion on  lung and mets in pelvic bones.   Absolutely devastated!   Im sure we all agree Nobody wants to be in this situation it’s an emotional rollercoaster and im feeling so angry just now.   Mum is 72 never smoked been healthy but this doesn’t go for anything really when this hits!      Biopsy 28th then meet with the consultant.  We know not curable but they said treatable.  They did mention a tablet but that was all they said.    What I am really worried about is the next meeting with doc that they are going put a time limit on mum which I just don’t want.     I have been reading many positive stories on here that are giving me some hope as I feel broken hearted that this is happening to my lovely mum as anyone would be.     Thanks for listening.

  • Aw so sorry to hear about your mums diagnosis . It’s.a tough time between diagnosis and before treatment and such a shock to everyone …. Hope you feel you can come in here to chat anytime you need to …. Love Elly x

  • Hi Binijac, welcome to the group.

It is such a scary time when a loved one is told they have cancer. Especially if they are told they are incurable, but treatable. But that is the magic word, treatable. There are lots of us here who are living with lung cancer and have been for many years on treatment.

If the biopsy is on the 28th, be prepared for a wait for the results. It usually takes a couple of weeks before they get the results of a biopsy. Everyone here in the group that I have spoken to, that has had a biopsy, have told me that it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be. The area is numbed, and they explain everything to you as it happens. I think the waiting for the results is the most difficult part. But once that is in, it will be full steam ahead with treatment. So I know it is a hard time for you and your mum, but try and enjoy Christmas and the New year as best you can.

It will be interesting to see what the tablet is they are thinking of for treatment. When you go for the results, if you go with your mum, remember to take a pen and paper with you to write bits down, because your head will be spinning and you will forget xx
