Hi, i have small cell lung cancer, dianogised last april, told inoperable and incurable, but oncologist said i could have chemo and radiotherapy curative, but a different story each time, will come back aggressive cancer. The treatment brutal, then just left, no further contact for 6 months, anyone else with small cell lung cancer
Hi Maxxie, My Mum has SCLC and was diagnosed at the end of June, given 6 weeks to live without treatment, just finished treatment at the end of Nov. She got 6 chemo and 6 Radiotherapy - It has spread to her Liver, spine, adrenal glands and Lymph nodes. She is doing really well. Don't think they will give her anymore treatment when it comes back. She is now due a scan on 28th Jan to see what the treatment has done. I have read on here that SCLC responds well to treatment. We will get the results mid Feb so fingers crossed. Any further treatment will be palliative.
Sending you loads of hugs xx
Hi Maxxie. My husband was just dianogised January 9th 2022. Small cell lung cancer. Also told inoperable and incurable. Pet scan results are very scary. Spots on his spine, groin area, collar. So, in his bones. Also before pet scan results, knew it was in his lymph nodes. He went in the ER for an emergency cardiac cath, tested positive for covid, treated for that, CT scan found mass the size of a golf ball wrapped around tracea and right lung.Lung doctor says 3 months without treatment but we are going to another oncologist tomorrow. Is radiotherapy curative the same as radiation? Just another name for it?
So sorry, your husband really going through it, small cell lung cancer is a very aggressive cancer, i had 4 rounds of chemo, and also radiotherapy twice a day for 3 weeks. I assume that its radiation as you asked. I can only tell you that it is painless, and shrinks the tumor, but not a cure, but hopefully will give you more precious time with your husband.
I find depression the worst side affect knowing its growing back, but i am a worrier.
I wish your husband the very best and hope you have some kind of good news
Hi Maxxie, sorry you have been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. I was diagnosed with the same last July, they operated but was not successful cancer to advanced. Biopsies were sent off but had to wait just for 2 to come back before they decided what treatment to put me on. My doctor told me that if these 2 results are negative I would be put on chemotherapy but if positive it would be another form of treatment. Well they came back positive which wasn't good, but because of that results he put me on Osimertinib Terrso tablet treatment. They are working very well, tumer has shrunk and nodules are stables. So in one way had bad news as results came back positive but on the other hand I can lead a normal life on chemo tablet. I do hope you get the right treatment.
Hi muffin break, your treatment different to mine. I was told inoperable, and treatment with chemo and radiotherapy would give me the best chance, thou oncologist seems to say different things and only telephone consultations now. Next one may but when i said if i am still alive she said as i told.you its aggressive cancer.
I hope your treatment keeps working well and i wish you all the very best you see to have a good oncologist i dont think i have
Take care and keep in touch it helps to talk to someone who understands
Hiya maxxie, yes my appointments are by telephone but at the moment while things are OK I'm happy with them.I told my Dr that I didn't want chemo or radiotherapy I know that sounds stupid but I sawwhat it did to my Mum she hardly had any life or strength to fight it as it made her weak. But there are so many new drugs coming to the NHS that I'm keeping my fingers crossed . Keep strong and positive and keep in touch
