Hiya, i was diagnosed with lung cancer on the 14th December, had all the tests just waiting on brain MRI which is on the 27th, literally still trying to get my head around it.

Everything was ok just over 3 weeks ago, went to GP with another problem and she noticed i had a bit of a cough so sent me for chest Xray, that looked like it had a shadow on it so was sent for another one, same thing, so was sent for a CT with dye, thats when the thingy hit the fan, it was a shadow plus about half a dozen inflamed lymph node in there aswell. starting chemo and radiotherapy in the new year, so thats where i am at at the moment, Thanks for reading.

  • Hi brother, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. This is all very new to you, its absolutely terrifying isn't it.  Although my lung cancer is different to yours, mine was discovered by a routine chest x-ray as well. I felt like it wasn't real for quite some time, that it was all happening to someone else.

I haven't had chemotherapy, but I have had radiotherapy. My radiotherapy shrunk my tumour by 50%. I have been on hormone treatment since, and the tumours are now minimal. There is so much treatment available now for lung cancer, now you are on this journey, your oncology team will be working very hard to get the best treatment for you.

Once you know which chemotherapy you will be on, there will be someone here who will be able to share their story with you. In the meantime, if you click on our profile pictures, it will take you to our profile page where you can read all about our journeys. x
