Hi...I still haven't told my parents...I'm 55 and they are both mid 80's and I can't stand the thought of upsetting them both. I know everyone is different but for me this has been the right decision as they think everything is fine and normal which makes my life a lot easier.

There's so much that can be done and you will be treatable..it's a horrid scary time but we're all here for you and you'll get better advise on here than if you just Google. Xx

Hi ..a huge part of the reason I haven't told my parents is due to my dad living in Florida and my mum lives 2 hours away from me, so I would have had to have told both of them over the phone...which is something I just couldn't do. Then the more I thought about it the more I figured that if my treatment is successful then maybe they don't need to know and I can save them a load of pain. If the lived near me and I saw them all the time then I don't think I could have kept it from them. I have huge guilt at not telling them but I just want to save them the upset and worry. You must do whatever is right for you as everyone's situations are different..

I have told my brother and my close friends, so with them and people on here, I feel thoroughly supported and the NHS have been wonderful.
