I was diagnosed only 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow I am seeing an respiratory consultant, followed by the oncologist for my prognosis, following a broncoscophy, PET scan, X-rays. I was supposed to be having a biopsy to one lymph node which they cancelled, following my MRI scan on Monday. I am very nervous as I was told all along it was a chest infection. Can anyone spread any light on which the biopsy has been cancelled.
Hi Shuell welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. I know how nervous you must be feeling about tomorrow. It really is nerve wracking. I am sorry they cancelled the biopsy on the lymph node. I really cannot say why this was cancelled, just assume that after the MRI it wasn’t necessary.
Good luck for tomorrow, please let us know how you get on x
Hi Shell sorry about your news but sometimes they can get all the info off the Pet scan and the MRI, they can tell by shape and size. They won't put you through any unnecessary procedures if it's not needed.
I was diagnosed in March this year and had to have the biopsy as they needed more info and thd news wasn't good for me. I was informed I had NSCLC and SCLC and it was not point in operations, at that point I wished the floor would open and swallow me up. Hopefully they have the info needed and it will better news for you, I always look on the brighter side of life now. I do wish you well when you get your diagnosis and it's good news for you. Please keep in touch Jean xx
Not great news as not operable but treatable. They have put me on one tablet per day of Osimertinib . Has anyone else taken these?
I was prescribed Osimertinib / Tagrisso and i took my first one on Saturday so 2 days ago. I'm not sure whether i'll have any side affects but i'll be very interested to hear how you get on with it. Apparently they've had promising results and anything has to be worth a try.
Hi shell I'm sorry hear your news, at least it treatable which is better than nothing. I have just had 20 very high dosages radiotherapy which shrunk the mass down by a third.
I had aa CT scan a couple of weeks ago and I'm at the waiting stage again to see what is next regards any treatment. Keep your chin up and think positively and you will get through it.
What did your diagnosis come back with, with you saying it was inoperable. Love Jean xx
