Hello,
I was diagnosed with lung cancer last week and discovered today, following brain MRI, that the cancer has spread to brain. I was already reeling from the initial diagnosis and now am completely terrified. Consultant has said it is now about managing rather than operating (which was initial course of treatment). Not sure if this is right place to post but would love to hear from anyone as feel so alone despite having great husband and friends.
many thanks.
Hello MrsEddie,
I'm so sorry you've had a double blow of terrible news, for you, your family and friends. You are bound to feel so alone even with a great hubby and friends. Just absorbing this news will have knocked the stuffing out of you and you're likely to be feeling like this until your team get a plan of action for you so you can start to focus on that.
I hope that we can be a shoulder to lean on as and when you need to let off steam or just get advice from those who know exactly how you're feeling.
I'm sure others will be along soon that have been through this.
Sending you much love
little-fi xx
Hello, just to wish you well on your journey. I am not in the same position as you but do have a great husband and friends, which really does help. I do find it is great to talk/chat with people who have experienced cancer, it really is an unfortunate club! but we just get it, all the worries and wobbles and things we have to have done that no one else has. so also ask for a chat if you want one, there will always be someone
Hello,
Thank you for your lovely message - I really appreciate it and it’s reassuring to know there is a community here to help.
Take care x
Hi, sorry to hear your sad news. I joined the group this evening as my brother has had the same diagnosis last week. He is on steroids and anti seizure tablets which have enabled him to put on weight and regain his balance as he became poorly. We are awaiting appointment with oncologist to discuss radio therapy to improve quality of life. Its blown us all of our feet so I can imagine a little bit of how you must feel. I hope you get the support you deserve x
Hello,
Thank you for your message and I am so sorry to hear about your brother - I wish you all the very best. I have been on treatment now since November (I have a mutation so am on targeted therapy) and things have definitely got calmer since my post. Once you have met the oncologist and have a plan in place, it should hopefully really help.
take care x
Hi, glad you have a treatment plan in place fingers crossed for us all hey xx
My dad has been diagnosed last week with primary lung and secondary brain cancer. It’s all awful. How’s things going with you. My dad has been given 6mths sadly. I don’t know what to expect, what to do or how to help?
i do know he’s not being too honest with my family and keeps saying it’s ok when we know it really isn’t!!
Hi Holly, sorry to hear your sad news. My brother has only weeks left to live for the exact diagnosis your father has. We found that anti seizure, sickness and steroids helped for a while but they have stopped having the same effect. Have you met with the oncologist to discuss a treatment plan such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy? Unfortunately for us its to late but maybe its possible with your father. My advice would be to get him out as much as you can to do the things he likes as if its untreatable then deterioration can come on very quickly and like my brother who is now house bound. It all depends really on the situation I suppose, hope you get the best advice and treatment x
