My oncologist is recommending PCI I am very nervous about potential side effects .Has anyone been through this treatment
Hi Judie
I had 10 daily sessions of PCI back in early 2012 as the final part of my treatment for Small Cell Lung Cancer. Other than losing the hair that had started to grow back post Chemo, I had no side effects during the treatment. In fact, I popped in every day to have the sessions on my way to work.
Nearly 10 years on, I haven't really noticed anything significant other than perhaps a slight increase in the number of 'senior moments'. Still very capable of doing mental maths and generally navigating my way through daily life.
Remember, the risks of not having the PCI far out way the risks of having it.
Hope this helps to calm your nerves.
