Hi, I'm new to the forum.
My husband was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma in his salivary gland 15 years ago which was then found in his lungs 12 years ago. After surgery and radiotherapy he has had a relatively good quality of life for 12 years. However we learnt in August that his lung tumours have progressed and has now spread to his bones. Doctors have said there isn't any more they can do now to stop the spread and he is receiving palliative care at home.
After a frightening 2 week stay in hospital and then a much calmer week in the hospice he came home yesterday. The support we have received from staff at the hospice and community services is faultless.
Despite the support and messages of concern and offers of help from friends and family this feels for me a very lonely time. We have two teenage boys and trying to keep a level of normality is physically and mentally draining. I have to keep putting one foot in front of the other for their sakes but what I really want to do is curl up and hide.
Hi murphysmum, welcome to the group but sorry you find yourself here.
I see that you have asked about others who are in a similar situation to yourself. There are a couple of people here in the lung group, who are caring for loved ones, but there are also other support groups on the online community, where you can join to share your experience with others.
