Dad has lungs cancer in both lungs

 hi 

my dad 54 years old and been told he’s got lung cancer when into hospital a few weeks ago with fluid round his heart had the fluid drained around his heart had a ct scan or a mri scan then to be told he’s got lung cancer on Friday he had another drain because he’s got fluid in his lungs he’s had the powered in and the drain as been removed today but I’m very worried because it’s still leaking fluid from where the drain was put in and it’s quite a lot he’s had to bed changes in hospital and he’s as swelling of his leg and feet can barely walk bless him I feel so hopeless at this  time we are still waiting for the results to all come back I’ve been reading on google and I’ve been reading not very nice things can anyone give me something positive because it’s a tuff time and can feel very lonely my dad doesn’t have a partner so I’m with him every step of the way.

  • Hi TLS welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your Dad. I have no personal experience with lung drains, so sorry I cannot comment on that.  I know it is hard when you are caring for a loved one, you want to see all the information that is available, but please remember that lung cancer treatments have come such a long way in recent years, and a lot of information online is outdated. 

    It is very scary when a family member receives a cancer diagnoses, and the fear of what is ahead, but talking to others who are in a similar situation to yourself does help you through this difficult time. There are other groups on the online community you can join where you can talk to other people who are also caring for loved ones.
