Hi everyone, my daughter is getting married August 2022. I have stage 4 incurable lung cancer I cannot get travel insurance specially as Covid-19 is still around. If I get ill over in Greece it would be stupid not to have insurance and I don't know what il be like next year. I've been on MacMillan travel insurance site but still no luck. So I've decided not to go. Am I being stupid ?
Hi Muffin break
I hope you don't mind me butting in, as I'm not a member of this group, but the title of your post caught my eye.
Unfortunately it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you have had a cancer diagnosis and I noticed that you said you'd looked on the Macmillan travel insurance site with no luck. I wondered if you'd looked at the thread called 'Recommended Travel Insurance', as it's where the majority of recommendations from other forum members are, in the travel insurance group.
Also it is best to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as sometimes they can refer to the underwriters to see if they would cover you when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.
I'm sorry if you've already done all that I've suggested but I just wanted to make sure you weren't missing out on what sounds like a wonderful trip.
x
Hi Litchborough, thanks for your message much appreciated. I have tried what you have suggested but no luck. But once again thank you
Hi Muffin break
I'm sorry to read that you've already tried all the insurers that have been recommended by others in the 'recommended travel insurance' thread without success.
Best wishes
Hi Muffin break. I am so sorry you have this awful dilemma. I myself do not feel safe going abroad, I think there is still so much uncertainty with covid. I am sure your daughter will understand. I have seen many people who have witnessed weddings via zoom because of this pandemic. Not the same I know, but at least you could watch it.
Hiya Chelle yes that is a thought. I tried Saga this morning, filled out the questionnaire on line got to the end and it said sorry cannot offer you insurance. So thanks again
I’m the same my daughters getting married in Cyprus next August, got a couple of quotes £2300 from saga and £1800 good to go. I have stage 3 nsclc and had chemo, radiotherapy now on immunotherapy till next April 2022, latest scan shows tumour shrunk outlook good so far, but like you in a quandary about going.
Hi Evelyn's yes it is an delemer, I've got one more to try and that is MIA travel insurance, a few on here have had some good quotes. I'm going to leave it now as it might be a bit easier nearer the time..I'm glad your tumer has shrunk looking good for you
Hi thanks for that information, sorry its taken this long to reply
