New to the group but needing support. My fiance was diagnosed mid June and stated chemo and immunotherapy early July (having had a pleural infusion prior to starting treatment to remove fluid around lung and seal it to prevent a future build up). The cancer is in both lungs and lymph nodes. We we both trying to be positive but he has had an infection and a delay of 5 weeks rather than 3 between treatments. We are worried the cancer has spread as symptoms are now the same as when first diagnosed but we know there is no fluid build up. I'm scared for him but don't want to show him that I think we will be told in next 6 weeks he only has months to live. He is only 51.
Do you know for sure that the fluid hasn't built up again. I have a pleural effusion a d had the procedure to seal it up but it didn't work. I have a tube in the side of my chest and have to drain my chest each day. It's sounds grim but I can breathe normally and have no other symptoms.
I was only diagnosed last month so it's all very new for me, and so far I've had one treatment of immunotherapy.
There is so much that can be done these days so please don't think there is no hope...there is always hope. I'm a young 55 and was it total shock at my stage 4 diagnosis as I thought I'd got asthma. It's a really scary time but you just have to try and think positively...
I come on here a lot for support and advice, there's always someone happy to chat.

Hi Palermo, welcome to the group but sorry you find yourself here. I am so sorry to hear about your fiancé's diagnoses. This is a very stressful time for you both, especially as he now has an infection. This could be why his symptoms seem to mirror his early diagnoses.
You may find it hard to talk to your fiancé about your fears, but it is beneficial to talk others who are in a similar situation to yourself. There are 3 different support forums on the community you can join.
supporting someone with incurable cancer group
You will find several people there who are going through a similar situation to yourself. You can also call the Macmillan support helpline for support 7 days a week from 8am til 8pm on 0808 808 00 00
I hope the infection eases soon, and he is back on track with his treatment.
Take care
Yes, sure it hasn't filled back up as has a chest x-ray to confirm . It's such a worrying time as everything has happened quickly, from being fit and well (ish just shortness of breath which we thought was a chest infection) to where we are now in the space of 4 months.
Wishing you well on your journey x
