Hi everyone

i haven’t posted in a while, I read all your posts though & feel very grateful that I didn’t need any chemo/radio after my lobectomy so I’m humbled to hear you guys ongoing stories.

my current issue is, I’m having further antibiotics for my 3rd/4th chest infection since my op. Never had a chest infection for many years even though I’m asthmatic. This one is just draining the life from me, can’t lay down on my right side without going into a fit of unproductive coughing. It’s wearing me out. Does anyone else have a similar issue ?? Any advice gratefully accepted

  • Hi Indian

You need to contact either your Cancer team or GP.   Sounds as though the  antibiotics are not strong enough to combat the infection.  Perhaps you need something stronger, perhaps a couple of days in hospital on strong intravenous antibiotics.

Of course I am not a doctor; however you clearly cannot go on as things are.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • Thank you kegsy, will get back to GP , this is just so tiring

    Good morning lovely people.

2nd CT scan on 17 April this tear (R upper lobectomy Dec. 2022) recent scan has shown my middle lobe is compressed. Having bronchial lavage on the 23rd May. Letter to GP from consultant described it as possible middle lobe syndrome,  GP unsure what this is. Regular chest infections but one in December this year & a few weeks ago really floored me. Throat is quite raw & my voice is quite hoarse. Anyone able to suggest any ideas on what's going on with me ?

  • Are you doing all of the physio exercises you did just after surgery?  I do that if I start feeling a bit chesty and it seems to loosen things up (make sure you're drinking enough, too).
