Hi this open to all to discuss please, any one dealing with lost labido, love partner to bits but I just got no interest in sexual activities, don't know if I worried about passing on chemo :/

  • Hi

Not sure if you are male or female, or your age; however regardless of your gender be assured that you cannot pass on your chemo to your partner.

Chemo can reduce libido in either gender. For woman, chemo pushes you through the menopause which in itself can cause a lack of interest in sex. Also like the menopause, chemo can cause quite severe vaginal dryness making sex painful.

I can only suggest that you have a chat with your GP and get your hormone levels checked to ensure that low levels are not the root cause. Whether male or female, there are tablets and creams that can help to restore hormone levels.  If your problem stems from your fear of passing on the chemo, you may need to speak to a Clinical Psychologist who has experience of cancer related issues.

Don't worry that this is only happening to you; losing interest in sex is quite a common side effect of cancer treatment.

    Many thanks Kegsy

Information taken on, I'm male aged 48!

  • Me again!

Forgive me, I forgot to mention the most important piece of advice. Please ensure you discuss your concerns with your partner, who may well be wondering what is going on regarding the sex or lack of it!
