wouldn't be normal for you not to be worried. think we have all are in your position. took me a long time to come to terms with illness. i just ignored it. for first few months

  • Hi

It is a very normal reaction after treatment for cancer to think every ache, pain and things going a bit wrong is a sign that the cancer is back.  The good thing is that you are having the scan soon, which will hopefully confirm no sign of cancer.

I know it is difficult but try not to let the worry consume you.

    Good luck with the scan.

Thanks Kegsy, but this is five months after treatment.  I wouldn't have thought chemo-radio would bring on stuff that long after treatment had finished.  Just have to wait and see. xx

    How are you?

  • Hi

That was the point I was trying to make i.e  your current symptoms may have nothing to do with your cancer; this could be something general such as a sinus infection. Of course get any health issues checked out, just try not to automatically assume it is cancer.

I am well, 7 years post treatment for SCLC and so far no signs of it returning. I am due my next 6 month check up in July and am hoping I will be able to post my usual positive update.

Again, good luck with the scan.

Wow! Well done Kegsy - 7 years! Can I ask how old you are? And thanks for the good luck x

  • Hi

I was 53 when I went through the treatment; felt like 83 for a few months after and now feel back to my pre-cancer self albeit a bit battle scarred!

Did you have chemo and radio? Did you have any side effects? How long did they last? How long did it take you to feel right again? (Sorry for all the questions - just thought I'd be feeling better now 5 months after treatment finished) xx
