I'm having to make a decision to have this but so worried how I will be with side effects can you help me know what will happen and your experience thank you
hello
my husband was diagnosed in january with oesophagus cancer inoperable with a tumour in the lining he has been on immnunotherapy for 6 months also know as CAPOX
Pembrolizumab immnutherapy and capecitabine pills for 2 weeks then a week off
The nodules on the lungs disappeared
the tumour has shrunk
the side effects were only fatigue for first 3 months then after that appetite went he lost weight & he became confused and anxious which he's never been in his life.
However, the week he is off it is much better and as the specialist says the treatment is working.
We have seen neurologists about the anxiety and are having scans. the first one showed no spread to the brain.
He's alive and that's the great news. we can cope with the side effects.
On this forum it shows everyone is different with side effects and immunotherapy is supposed to be a first class treatment.
I would say Get as much information as you can to make your informed decision but it has been good news for us.
Best Wishes to you for the future
