I have recently found out that I have quite a few brain mets which they are going to treat with stereotactic radiosurgery. They will give me one blast only. Has anyone else had this treatment? How were your side effects. It's all just so scary when they tell you all the stuff that could happen. I am having it on 11th September at Guy's hospital.
Thank you
Tina
Hi Tina, I had stereotactic radiotherapy for 2 brain mets in January 2024, I can't remember a lot about it as what I thought was bad cold at the time was in fact pneumonia. I had 3 sessions and I didn't have any ill effects from it I did have blurred vision but I think that was more from the steroids and Keppra that I was on. I did lose my hair in few places but mainly at the back of my head so I didn't see it when I looked in the mirror and now that it has grown back it's a lot thicker and I now have curly hair which is a bonus. Sorry that I am not much help but when I saw that no one had replied to your post I thought my little bit of input was better than nothing.
Take care
Jackie
Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your information is very much appreciated. I know they have to tell you all the possibilities but trying hard not to freak out!! It really helps to hear about the experiences of others so thanks again Jackie. X
