Has anyone suffered severe knee pain after keytruda or zometa?
My husband had his 4th keytruda & 3rd zometa nearly 2 wks ago & since Tuesday his knee pain is flooring him. Previously to his cancer diagnosis he had arthritis in knees & had several knee procedures years ago.
His knees havent been this bad in years, also ankke swelling which as been ongoing for months, which nobody can find out whats causing it.
He normally as a few bad days after treatment & joint pains, but never as bad as this.
Hes taking cocodamol & oramorph but it isnt really helping the pain, as I think he needs anti infamotories, which he cant take due to having a stroke.
Just wondering if anyone else as suffered these side effects?
Thanks.
Hi my Husband is having Premexted and Keytruda the only side effects he gets are when he comes off the steroids when he feels a bit nauseous and fatigued the only thing that really bothers him is the irritating cough which is so bad it twinges his back. hope you are doing okay after your tests
Hi good to hear you husbands side effects arent too bad, albeit the cough.
My husbands had a few vomitting episodes throughout the treatment, the nausea us hit & miss. His appetites back to normal. No cough. His main problem is his swollen ankles, which caused him to fall 2 wks ago, so now his knees are painful. Hes had knee pain for decades, arthritis, so this fall hasnt helped.
As for the ankles everythings been tried & they will not go down. He wakes up & his left ankles not too bad, but the right ankle ( his stroke side) is like a balloon. So that weight is causing heaviness to the foot drop & thats why he fell. Hes wearing a foot drop brace when he goes out, which isnt often now. If we do go out its taxis.
Between 2 GPs, oncology & physio, not one person can give a cause & its driving him around the bend as he now cant risk going out alone & I'm too worried/guilty if I go out, as it seems so u fair.
Hes seeing an acupuncturist tomorrow morning to see if he can help. If he cant then no idea what to do next.
He does see an endocrinologist but hes on leave & a requests been made to him to see if he as any ideas.
Its a mystery!!
Hi I hope your husband Is getting some relief from the acupuncture I know all about the feelings of guilt I do go out for about an hour to Pilates but still feel guilty also our Daughter has invited us out to lunch today and he said that I should go and have a girls lunch but I feel so guilty
He's having his 2nd acupuncture today, its done nothing yet. I know the guilt things awful. The old me would gave said you need time to yourself, sadly not good at taking my own advice! I'm meeting my sister shortly for lunch. Her hubby passed away in Feb, so shes really going through it, they were together 58 yrs. He was diagnosed with non hodgekins lymphoma stage 4 last year. Had all the treatment & was clear of cancer. But in in Oct he got something called auto immune encephalitis, basically his brain was infected. He was in hos from Oct until he passed away in Feb, 2025 as been an awful year.
I hope you go out & enjoy some time to yourself. Take care x
Hi I did go out and had lunch at a Thai restaurant with our Daughter and had a good chat sorry about your Brother-in-law went to see the oncologist this morning they are going to decrease the premexted part of the chemo /immunotherapy by 20% as his blood count is low and prescribe some anti sickness tablets hope you have a good lunch with your sister take care
Glad you went out. My hubbys only on immunotherapy & zometa. His next 3 nonthly scans next Thursday & 5th immunitherapys on the 19th Sept.
Hes been in anti nausea since all this started, TBH not sure if its anxiety nausea he as ( which I get daily) or treatment nausea. Luckily hes not on chemo, oncologist decided immunotherapy was enough due to the ctdna test he had. All I remember was her saying its a good thing.
I did meet my sister for lunch, approx 30 mins in his endocrinologist rung to discuss his ankle swelling & if meds need looking at. I couldnt hear, as I'm deaf so doc said he'd call back in one hour. So I left my lunch & sister & run home & doc didnt ring back. Spent most of yesterday chasing him to no avail. So I had 30 mins out! If he could just get this ankle swelling down & knee pain gone, then he could go out, go away etc he had a 2nd acupuncture yesterday & zero affect, but like everything it works differently on people.
I do need some time out, as I'm eating much & just feel like a dizzy head every day. Forgetting things, not sleeping etc just forgotten what life used to be like!
Hope ur hubbys anti sickness works. Take care x
