I developed a cough around 8 weeks ago, went to GP, who examined me and said my chest and lungs sounded clear so left with antibiotics, finished the antibiotics and still had cough. Went back to GP who again listened to my lungs and said she could hear something on my right side so issues more antibiotics and sent me for a chest xray around 10 days ago. Antibiotics are now finished and still have cough, docs called today to ask how I was feeling, I told her cough was slightly better. She said she got my xray back and it shows something on my lung but they can't say if it's infection or not so I have to keep an eye on the cough and if it gets worse again I have to go back and see her. Is this normal, and should I be worried?
Hi bubbles that’s how I started with a bad cough, didn’t clear after antibiotics so I went back and they sent me for X-ray with more antibiotics. X-ray shown a shadow and I was fast tracked for ct and pet scan which confirmed a tumour unfortunately. My advice to you is go back and demand a ct scan and don’t leave it any longer. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about but it’s always better to be safe than sorry, good luck and please let me know how you get on
Hi bubbles1, please do not worry about them being angry, you have a right to be paranoid. I too was told it could be a bad infection but my doctor was very understanding and arranged a ct and pet scan for my piece of mind. Even after the scans I was still told it could be inflammation, tb or cancer but when I had a biopsy that is when it was confirmed it was a tumour on my right upper lung. You obviously are very worried about it so please get in touch and let them know how you are feeling ,your health comes first and the doctor will understand I’m sure
